Our Founder
Sandy Ring
Sandy Ring is the Founder and President of Dark Sky Technology. She is a programmer, entrepreneur, and subject matter expert in the fields of software protection, anti-tamper, forensics, open-source, reverse engineering, and both offensive and defensive computer security. With a degree in Computer Science from the University of Alabama’s College of Engineering, Sandy has extensive background and expertise in taking ideas from early stage to licensable products that help secure critical infrastructure. Sandy began her career in the CIA, later becoming Deputy Director of Research for Sytex Inc. In 2006 Sandy founded Pikewerks to develop technology that prevents reverse engineering, modifying, and copying of software critical to national security. In the next phase of her professional journey, Sandy hopes to provide trust in open-source software and help give integrators confidence their software stack is safe and free from nefarious influence.
Our Chief Executive Officer
Michael Mehlberg
Michael Mehlberg is the Chief Executive Officer at Dark Sky Technology. Through multiple small businesses, Michael has a proven track record leading high-tech, high-value, and high-stakes software services and product development projects. Michael graduated with a bachelors in computer science from Purdue University, after which he was hired as a professional security analyst at Arxan Defense Systems where he quickly gained experience in software development, attack, and reverse engineering on critical nation-state level protection programs. Michael soon took on leadership roles such as Senior Project Manager, Director of Engineering, Product Manager, and VP of Engineering before being acquired by Microsemi where he ran the Engineering and Product Management organizations focused on building software and hardware security products for microprocessors, FPGAs, and ASICs. Michael led Business Development and Sales for government and defense at Cryptography Research (acquired by Rambus), further rounding out his technical experience in the field of cryptography. Immediately prior to taking the CEO position at Dark Sky Technology, Michael led the sales and marketing organization and held a board level seat at Star Lab, a Wind River company. Michael now lives with his wife Elaine and three children in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
Our Chief Financial Officer
Michael Ring
Michael Ring is the Chief Financial Officer of Dark Sky Technology. Michael earned a bachelors in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico and a masters in Project Management from George Washington University and brings a wealth of hands-on experience in project and program management, intrinsic motivation, finance, product conceptualization, product development, and sales. In addition to a highly successful career in both the U.S. Navy and Intelligence Community, Michael has experienced all phases of the company life cycle and developed multiple successful commercial software products. He is uniquely qualified to help mentor and guide small to medium-sized high-tech companies as they grow into self- sustaining entities. This is exactly the journey he anticipates as Dark Sky matures and becomes a center of excellence for trust in open-source software in aerospace and defense.
